PREGNANCY WITHIN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF GESTATION:
Majority of women who have such an early miscarriage usually will demonstrate no miscarriage symptoms. However, the following are a few signs and symptoms that may suggest an early miscarriage.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #1 - A positive pregnancy test that turns negative.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #2- Late menstrual cycle.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #3- A heavier or longer lasting menstruation.
PREGNANCY AFTER THE FOURTH TO FIFTH WEEK OF GESTATION:
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #1 - Vaginal bleeding is the most common miscarriage sign. Vaginal bleeding can be anything from dark brown spotting to bright red bleeding. Also related to vaginal bleeding women will usually pass blood clots as well. Remember the miscarriage statistic that 20-30% of women experience spotting during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester and 50% of those women will miscarry.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #2 - A quantitative hCG level (blood drawn pregnancy test) that is decreasing.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #3 - Low back or pelvic pain
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #4 - Significant pelvic cramping
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #5 - Loss of pregnancy signs and symptoms such as breast tenderness, nausea, and / or fatigue.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #6 - Unable to hear or see the fetal heartbeat.
Sign and Symptom of Miscarriage #7 - Unable to find the fetus within the uterus with ultrasound. If this occurs with localized pelvic pain to one side or the other an ectopic pregnancy must be considered.
